Ever since Blizzard’s World of Warcraft went live there has always been confusion over what role a Druid plays in the game. This is not surprising considering the different roles the class can fill.
World of Warcraft Europe Community Manager Tharfor commented on this and identified three roles (based on spec) that the class normally fills.
He pointed out that the balance druid is essentially a ranged DPS class (moonkin form) while a restoration druid is a healer. Feral druids are either used for tanking (bear form) or for melee DPS (cat form).
While some of the WoW players out there would probably be saying that there are other builds, we have to agree with Tharfor on his assessment. After all, the other builds are hybrids of these three major roles a Druid plays in a party.
