It seems that Midway’s financial woes has again ended in layoffs. The publisher has just confirmed that some members of its Chicago headquarters have been let go following the shipment of Midway’s frontline titles, Blitz: The League 2 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) and Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3).
About 20 to 30 people are estimated to have been affected, although Midway didn’t disclose any exact figures. A Midway rep said was that the number of people laid off was “well below 10 percent of the studio population, and many of those people were reassigned elsewhere in the company.”
This news comes after Midway posted big quarterly losses of US 75.9 million, more than double last year’s US 33.5 million net loss. Midway Austin also underwent layoffs earlier in the year, while the company’s LA studio was shut down.
